How You can Stop Compulsive Overeating Just Like I Did

How I Stopped Compulsive Overeating: I became a Certified Nutritionist, Holistic Health Practitioner and Specialist in Eating Disorders. I wrote and published a 400 plus page treatment program for compulsive overeating based on everything I had learned.

Compulsive Overeating Help for you: The first thing in the program that we discuss is self criticism. When you constantly criticize yourself you are creating negative feelings that only add to the self doubt and bad feelings you may already have. You are adding fuel to the fire and it does no good to be "mean" to yourself. You wouldn't say the things you are saying about yourself to your best friend about her would you? Then why would you do it to yourself?

The second thing you can do is learn and understand what your brain is thinking and doing when you binge. Compulsive overeaters know they are overeating but they can't figure out why or how to stop. You probably know the internal your body and brain have when you binge. You have one part of you saying it's okay to binge and the other side is reaming you out for it. You can start a journal to keep track of these feelings.

The third step we cover is finding the root cause of why you overeat. Do you really know what happened to you to make you feel like you need to self comfort yourself with food? Food is not the issue but rather the stress and feelings that you are just not good enough are what contribute to binge eating. You will want to get to the bottom of why you feel the way you do in order to face the future.

Fourth, as we talk about compulsive overeating, we need to learn about the different types of binges there are. Sometimes an overeater may start out binging because they are sad or lonely and the binges become habit forming. Soon that person may find others reasons to binge such as boredom or that there was an opportunity to binge.

In the fifth step, we talk about reducing your stress levels. You have good stress and bad stress. The good stress helps you achieve your desired goals but the bad stress leaves you with that sinking feeling like the world is caving in. You turn for comfort when you have too much bad stress. You can reduce your stress by relaxing your body through simple yet very effective breathing techniques, visualization and by learning coping skills.

The sixth process is to begin setting small goals that you can achieve without your mind and body resiting. We do this successfully by using "chunks". You can set small goals so achievable that your mind will be thrilled to continue as you reward yourself for each completed goal. Let's take for instance a goal of drinking 8 glasses of water a day. You would take that goal and break it down into the smallest, most achievable goal to you and do that for 4 days. So what that means is you could say "I'll drink 1 glass of water each day for the next 4 days." After the four days are done if you have completed that goal you can then add a little bit more to it and work on the next tiny goal. "I'll drink 2 glasses of water each day for the next 4 days" and so on until you reach your goal.

The seventh action we take is to use the Law of Attraction and focus on attracting positive "like" thoughts to what you truly want. When you think about what it is that you want in your life you are sending out a frequency of brain waves that can resonate with other similar frequencies. So it's important to say things like, "I am healthy and happy in my relationships" or "I am thrilled that I eat healthy and exercise". When you concentrate on negative things that you don't want to happen you are still thinking about them and sending that message out there. By saying "I don't want to binge eating anymore", you'll attract more binge eating. So focus on what you want and state it that way.

And finally, I hope to convey to you that you have the power to stop compulsive overeating. With the right tools and the right attitude and a desire to move forward, you can absolutely make the changes you need to get that done.
