What Are The Many Benefits of Massage?
Apr 10th
With the many different benefits of massage, more and more doctors, therapists, and chiropractors, as well as other health care specialists, are starting to incorporate massage therapy into their practices. No longer is massage considered 'alternative' medicine, and has come into mainstream medicine with a vengeance. A massage therapist is a certified professional, with knowledge of not only massage techniques, but also physiology, anatomy, CPR and first aid.
There are many forms of massage, and you can get a massage sitting down, laying down, and even standing up. There are massage clinics that do a variety of techniques and specialists are often hired by other professionals. Massage therapists use their hand, as well as their elbows, arms, and fingertips to manipulate different areas of the body in or to produce a desired effect. Here are some of the benefits of massage therapy.
If you are stressed, a nice massage can help ease tensions and help you relax. Combined with soothing sounds, massage can put you in a much better state of mind, and allow you to deal with everyday problems without getting all stressed out about them. Massage therapy can address not just the mental, but all aspects of health as well.
Chiropractors use massage therapy to help relax the muscles before they start manipulations and realignments. Relaxing the muscles can help with poor blood circulation as well, and increase blood flow to areas of the body that need it. Also, it can open up arteries and capillaries, and with continued therapy, it can up these up on a permanent basis.
Massage can relieve PMS, including body aches, tension headaches, and irritation for women. Expecting mothers who receive massages on a regular basis find their labor to be less intensive, and very often have their massage therapist in the labor area with them.
With the added blood flow, massage also increases lymph node fluids, as well as oxygen and other nutrients to tissues and cells. It can improve your range of motion, lumber up joints and ligaments, and also help release endorphins which kill pain. All of these working together is ideal for older people who have problems such as arthritis.
Regular massage therapy treatments can greatly improve your health, it does not take long either, just 45-60 minutes three times a week can get you feeling better. You will be more relaxed and be able to feel like you did when you were young.
If you are interested in these treatments, there are many different options, and you can easily find a qualified pro in your area. Make sure they are certified in that are too. If you are interested in becoming a therapist there are many qualified courses available and in no time you can be certified!

What Is The Atkins Diet?
Jan 26th
There have been many different diet plans that emerged over the years but few have been as popular - or as effective - as The Atkins Diet. In the 1990s, The Atkins Diet exploded as a major diet fad but to call it a fad would be a very unfair classification. Whether or not the diet is popular in crash diets is irrelevant. What is important is whether or not the diet plan will work. And, most definitely, this is a diet that can work and deliver tremendous results.
Contrary to what some assume, The Atkins Diet did not first emerge in the 1990s. It first appeared in the 1970s and was popular for a short while until its re-emergence in the 1990s. This diet derived from the discoveries of Dr. Robert Atkins. Atkins was a physician who was himself suffering from obesity.
Based on his research, Atkins felt that one of the most common causes of obesity was not the concept of eating high fat or calorie diets. Instead, it was the presence of excess carbs in the diet that was the culprit for obesity. In, 1972, he wrote the bestseller, The Atkins Diet Revolutions, but the revolution was short lived until it came back in the 1990s. Perhaps it was the lack of publicity that led to its demise in the 1970s. Thankfully, it returned and many have been strongly using it.
Why exactly do carbohydrates cause weight gain? Carbs are one of these components that make up the food people eat. The other two being protein and fat. The main purpose of carbs is to provide energy for the body. When you do not have carbs and you use a lot of energy, stored fat will be turned to as the source. This means your body will burn fat greatly, when you cut out carbs.
Carbohydrates lead to the body raising its insulin levels as well. Insult promotes the storage of body fat, and when your body has a low insulin level, it becomes less difficult to maintain excess body fat. So being a part of The Atkins Diet raises the potential to shed excess weight.
When you start The Atkins Diet, you enter into something known as the induction stage. This is where you completely eliminate the body of all carbs. You literally eat no carbs other than a small amount derived from vegetables or fruits for several days to weeks to allow the body to metabolize a lot of your stored fat. Once you have reached the weight you are pleased with, you can increase your carb intake but only to the point that it maintains your current weight.
What do you do if you start to gain weight? All you do is simply return to the induction stage and cut out all your carbs. In result, your ability to shed weight will once again be expanded.
The Atkins Diet pretty much involves a very simple concept, but once that is incredibly effective. This is the reason it is so popular and will be for quite some time. It is without a doubt one of the very best diets available for those looking to lose that stubborn weight.
